www.gov.wales/sites/default/files/publications/2022-03/continuing-nhs-healthcare-the-national-framework-for--implementation.pdf - Department of Health (Northern Ireland), policy announced 11 February 2021; quashed by the High Court, June 2023; reinstated by the Court of Appeal in McMinnis's Application for Judicial Review \[2024\] NICA 77 (20 November 2024). The UK Supreme Court refused permission to appeal that decision on 27 June 2025, so this is now the final, settled position.

The rule that no one aged 75 or over pays is long-standing Department of Health (Northern Ireland) policy applied under that power, not a fixed entitlement written into the Order itself — ask your parent's Trust to confirm it still applies.
